Week 32 Day 3

Today, cleaning and rearranging Andrew's room for some dear out-of-town friends, I was thinking of my years of education at school. I can not put my finger on it yet, but there is a big difference whether one is getting educated between four walls that would associate everything with Learning, or one is getting educated living out one's everyday life when every moment is associated with Learning. I did plan a whole school day out for Andrew and Saara, but I managed to accomplish only a handful of things. Which is all right, because it is impossible to miss school days or play hooky when you homeschool. So, we will catch up. Meanwhile, both kids and us, are involved in a lifetime event of seeing a church built in 24-hours.

Week 32 Day 2

I am so thankful that today's lessons turned out so well and that we got done with everything by lunch time and were able to go with Daddy to the church property and help a tiny bit with the preparations. The most challenging part of our school day was practicing the manners we have been talking about for a few days now. Both children shy away when people they do not know well pay them complements, for instance. We are working on that. We are also working on good manners and conduct in the car, store, and other places. Andrew and Saara are seeing and experiencing it themselves how hard it is to put talking about something into practice. Oh, they know what a good behavior looks like, but it is horribly difficult to be calm and quiet in the back seat of the car especially when your sibling is pestering you. So, we keep on practicing.
