Civil War Museum in Fort Worth

We had been waiting for a chance to go to the Fort Worth Civil War museum for a long time. Finally, armed with all the knowledge we had read from the school books, we paid our visit and saw first hand many things we had only read about. We also learned about many things the books never mentioned. The museum was so packed with history that we need to go back there to soak up some more information.

'15/16 Week 20 Days 1, 2, 3, and 4

These have been three very busy days. We have diligently worked on our assignments. Both kids finished their math workbooks #1 and started on #2. In history, Andrew continues to read about the WW I. He really loves the books we borrowed from the library about the war. Saara moved on to the renaissance period. We looked at the works of Michelangelo, Raffael, and Leonardo da Vinci. Also, we started watching a movie about Michelangelo painting the Sistine chapel. 
The days have been cold, and we skipped the Park Day on Thursday, but the kids were still outside playing and enjoying the cold sunny days.

'15/16 Week 19 Days 4 and 5

Today, the children liked their science classes the most. Saara was learning about the moisture in the air. After school, the kids rode their bikes down the road to the closest pine tree to see if the cones were open or closed. It was quite a trek for us as we had never walked or biked this far on our road before. I am thankful for quiet country roads.
Andrew had his hands full with yet another TOPS project. This time he was building a circuit with two-way switches. He did all the work himself without needing any help from his mama. 

History. On our last trip to the library, we picked up a few books on WW I.

Science. Saara finished her ten day weather observation. We took a nice long look at the data and Saara answered some questions about her observations.

Andrew's lesson was about magnetism again, and it is always fun to watch the metal shavings reveal the magnet's magnetic field.
