2013 Summer Activities 5

I so hope, this was the one and only miserable week this summer. We started off with high hopes. The kids were so excited about starting their swimming lessons. They loved the first one on Monday despite cooler temperatures and drizzling rain. Unfortunately, this was their one and only lesson. The next day Andrew was more or less bedridden with fever. Nasty cold, but, thankfully, it lasted only two days. They still have little sniffles, but the worst is over.

Saara and I were trying to keep Andrew's spirits up by playing as many board games as he could handle.

One morning, before it got scorching hot, we went bug hunting. Besides dead spiders, empty cicada and snail shells we did not find any bugs.

One bright spot in the whole week was celebrating Mom's birthday (I have to get older too some day.) Andrew was in charge of reading the baking instructions and off they went baking a cake for Mom. With Dad's help they also made a long banner. This project kept them crafty all afternoon the day before.

The birthday party itself was a riot! Kids easily outnumbered the adults, but everyone had a good time.
