2013 Field Trips: The Renaissance Festival

We had our first Renaissance Festival experience last autumn. It was a lot of fun for all of us and encouraged us to return this year. The children were looking forward to the games and watching the tournament and jousting again. Now that both Andrew and Saara have been learning about the Medieval times, seeing the era come alive and tangible made more sense to them and also helped them to remember and experience many things we have been only reading about in books so far. Like training falcons or hawks for hunting, watching the knights handle their lances, seeing the colors and fashions of the long gone days (some being rather outlandish, I must admit), and hear the sounds of the musical instruments or vendors yelling their wares. Needless to say, we want to go back next year.
