'12/13 Week 4 Day 2

Amazing, we are four weeks into Grade 1 and Pre-K and we have already finished reading two books. Today, we put back on the shelf Andrew's "The Peoples of the World" and Saara's "Eric Carle's Animals, Animals". "Charlotte's Web" is about to follow them as well. Feels, like we have reached some sort of a milestone. Let's see what the next mile brings. I am excited.

We caught up with our lesson about magnets today and both kids had lots of fun moving paper clips around with a magnet. "Magnet" was also one of the new spelling words in our Language Arts lesson.

A 'magnet' of a lesson today was our studies of different dances in the world. We spent a whole hour watching video clips on the Youtube. We started with flamenco and continued with the Russian Cossacks leaping and prancing. Andrew loved THAT! All the Asian dances left the kids with puzzled faces, especially one from Japan where the dancer moved around very little. But, it is a bit of a cultural experience for them.
Of course, we watched Scottish highland dancing and, by the children's request (!) also "The Riverdance". My fascination with the Lord of the Rings and the Riverdance has trickled down to the kids. A while ago we used the soundtrack of the Riverdance for exercising and since then the kids have loved it. By the way, both shows ARE out of this world!
